Looking Ahead

The new year is on the horizon!  So what is coming for Yarrrn Matey this year?  Keep reading!

Plans can change so I will give myself grace if not all of this occurs but I am aiming high for 2023.

Cue the Fireworks!

I'm starting the year off with a bang!  Yarrrn Matey is officially a business! Without getting into all the details in this post (maybe I'll do that in another if you want), I have taken the step out of "other income" and into an actual business.

Yarn Collections

I want to release at least four yarn collections this year, and will be exploring an additional advent style box at the end of the year.  All of these collections will be ready to ship and will be listed online.  I am currently working on a space themed collection that will be dropped in January.  You can follow along colorway previews here.  I'll be sharing more details and finished pictures of the collection in mid January.

In Person Events

I want to increase the amount of in person events I am participating in.  I spent this year lurking at local sales, and seeing where some demand may be for yarn.  I also want to get out and meet some local people that have an interest in yarn things and become more connected to the small business community in my area.

Local Shops

I have curated a list of local shops that accept local vender items.  I want to explore if this is a good fit for any of my finished products or yarns this year.

Presence

I will be diversifying my online presence this year.  I am going to be playing with pinterest, my own website, youtube, facebook, etc. and seeing if any of these are fruitful and enjoyable.  No, I will not be joining tiktok...don't get me started on that one.   I may also start an in person crochet/knit meet up at a brewery in my town.

This is the beginning of my list for this coming year and I am so excited for the possibilities.  Is there anything you would like to see from me in the upcoming year?  Let me know in the comments!

Kraken Clutch Pattern

Well, it's finally here! My first published crochet pattern.  I've spent the last four years writing patterns for myself and using them as cheat sheets but they probably wouldn't be understood by most people!  It's time I grew up and made the transition into something legible for other people! This clutch has a modern finish but uses very classic crochet stitches.  It's perfect for a night out to dinner, or on the town with your friends (once that's allowed again!).  I chose these beautiful shades of gray and green, to subtly highlight the diagonal stripe but it'd be pretty in any of the beautiful colors offered by Lion Brand. I hope you enjoy making this clutch as much as I did! Quarantine Crafts

It's an understatement to say that we are in strange times, but I'm not sure how else to put it.  Two weeks ago, I was living my typical life and today I'm working from home, in a make-shift office in my craft room, with the government suggesting I stay home for the foreseeable future.  I am well aware that this pandemic is negatively affecting many people and completely upsetting their life balance, due to illness, job loss or otherwise.  I consider myself very lucky to have employment, a stocked pantry, and my health, during these times. I am choosing to view this time in my life as a gift.  Never before, and never again, will I be ordered to stay home and slow down every day life.  This freedom from the daily grind has allowed me to spend more time with my husband, to be more present in the moment (whether completing yard work, or my working from home responsibilities), and to explore new facets of my crafting hobby that I wouldn't have had the time or ene...
